These members participate in the Color Guard, Veteran funeral services, Honorings, Memorials and practice traditional values, culture and language.  The members are veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Granada and Desert Storm.

The Gordon Weston Indian Veterans Lodge has annual obligations for school pow-wows, Dakota Annual Wacipi’s, intertribal conferences, veteran functions, and provides cultural awareness in the community.  Their operating budget is based on donations and honorariums.

The Lodge was given the honor to care for an Eagle Staff that represents the 38 Mdewakanton’s that were executed at Mankato, Minnesota on December 26, 1862, shortly after the Minnesota Uprising.  The Eagle Staff was presented to the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe by the Lower Sioux Tribe, Morton, Minnesota in 1998 and represents the struggle of the Indian people to survive.  It was given to the Post to be carried by the family of Ernest Wabasha who was one of the hereditary Chiefs of the Mdewakanton Tribe.  The Eagle Staff is carried by the Color Guard at all pow-wows and functions.
