Daryl Dean Johnson Jr.

Born on July 15, 1957 -

Journeyed to the Spirit World  - October 15, 2010

Daryl Dean Johnson Jr., 53 of Harrisburg, SD, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Sanford Medical Center.

Daryl Dean Johnson Jr., son of Daryl and Ethel (Gullickson) Johnson, was born on July 15, 1957, in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up there and received his education, graduating from Washington High School in 1975.

Dean then began his career, enlisting in the United States Navy serving as a Boatswain’s Mate. He later transferred to Sioux Falls working as a recruiter for the U.S. Naval Reserve. Dean was promoted to the rank of Master Chief after 30 years of service and retired in 2005. He also worked as a salesman for Chicago Tube and Iron.

Dean was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was active in men’s groups, evangelism, and ushering. He enjoyed helping people as one of God’s servants. Dean truly loved the Lord, his family, and his country.

Dean is survived by his son Brian Johnson (fiancé Elizabeth Linder), Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Kali Johnson, Willmar, MN; mother Ethel (Gullikson) Johnson, Marshall, MN; sisters Deb Severson, Marshall, MN, Dori Bowie, Tulsa, OK, Sally Larson, CA, Joanne Talley, Hutchinson, KS; and many other relatives and friends.Dean was preceded in death by his father Daryl Johnson Sr. and grandmother Sena Butman.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, beginning at 12 pm with the family present from 5 to 7 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at First United Methodist Church with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
