The family of the late Gordon Jones, Sr. hosted a Congressional Record Tribute & Reception on Friday, April 30th, from 3pm to 5pm at the Grace Moore Senior Citizens Center. Senator John Thune (R), SD, submitted a Congressional Record in honor of Gordon Jones, Sr. for his years of civic and public service. Jeannie Faber, Native American Outreach Coordinator for Senator John Thune, represented the senator and relayed the Senat or’s message to the family.
Paul Bockelman, Director of the Sioux Falls Veterans Affairs Administration, was in attendance. The community of Flandreau and the Tribal community were invited to this event in honor of Gordon Jones, Sr. Gordon was a Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal member, Tribal Chairman, Gaming Commissioner, FSST Tax Commissioner, Korean veteran, and belonged to and served on many organizations in the community, state and county. His parents were Harry and Bessie (Eastman) Jones.
His wife Judy, sons Gordon Jr. and Linda Janis and Chuck and Melissa and daughter Marcie and Dale Eng were the hosts.
