Joyce J. Doyle

Born on September 13, 1952-

Journeyed to the Spirit World  - April 21st, 2011

Joyce J. Doyle, 58, passed away at her home in Flandreau April 21st, 2011. Joyce was born September 13, 1952 in Flandreau to Edward W. and Beatrice M. (Heminger) Hansen. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1971 and attended Dakota State, SDSU and Killian College where she received a business administration degree. Joyce received a paralegal degree and worked for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. She was former FSST treasurer and past president of the gaming commission. She was currently the Administrative Officer for the Tribe. Joyce was a member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She liked working with stained glass, reading, gardening, and animal rescue. Joyce also worked with youth programs through the tribe.

 

Joyce is survived by her father, Edward Hansen, Sr.; five siblings: Judith (James) Petersen, Janet Johnson, Edward W. Hansen Jr., JoAnn Sundermeyer, and Wesley D. Hansen, all of Flandreau; five nephews, six nieces and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery. A dinner was served at Eastman Hall after the services.
