The Grace Moore Senior Citizens Center staff and Tribal Elders helped Lillian Beane celebrate her 99th Birthday on August 27, 2010. Lillian was greeted and applauded by everyone present when she came to lunch.  The FSST Tribal Executive Committee, President Tony Reider, Vice President Cyndi Weddell, Secretary Leah Fyten, Treasurer Gordon Jones, Jr., Trustee I Marsha Schlueter, Trustee II Richard Allen, Trustee III Major Redwing and Jeannie Hovland, from Senator Thune’s Sioux Falls office were present for the event.

Lillian’s family that were present were son Sidney & wife Rebecca Beane, Minneapolis, granddaughters Carly & her husband Jay Thomas Bad Heart Bull, and Jay’s father Tom Bad Heart Bull,  Kate Beane and Sydney Beane. Lillian’s son William Beane, and her daughter Linda and Fred Olson from Flandreau helped Sarah DeClerk and Sally Allen with the party preparations at the Center.

The menu for Lillian’s party was corn soup, fry bread, wojapi, ice tea, lemonade and birthday cake made by Sarah DeClerk, Director, Grace Moore Senior Citizens Center. The FSST Executive Committee gave her a decorative candle holder and scarf and there were lots of flowers sent from friends and family and other presents. Lillian was tickled with a hooded sweat shirt with a picture of Sid, Linda and William when they were children. She said: “Oh, look at my family. They were chubby when they were little.”

Lillian’s favorite meal at the casino is seafood night on Friday nights so she can eat all the crab legs she wants. Happy Birthday Lillian, our eldest tribal member!
