Governor Recognizes Arlington for Achievements in Economic Development

The Excellence in Economic Development Award was established several years ago to honor the dedication and commitment of eight South Dakotas who lost their lives during an economic development trip.  Business and individuals from across the state helped finance the award established in memory of the Late-Gov. George S. Mickelson, Roland Dolly, Ron Reed Angus Anson, David Birkeland, Rodger Hainje, Dave Hanson and Ron Becker.  The spirit of those visionary South Dakotans lives on through the current efforts of individuals across the state.

Mayor of Arlington, SD, Ameil Red Fish accepted an award from Governor rounds on April 20, 2010 on behalf of the community of Arlington, SD.  Mr. Red Fish is a Physicians Assistant working at the tribal clinic in Flandreau, where he also provides excellent health care for our patients!  The Excellence in Economic Development Award was established to honor the dedication and commitment of 8 South Dakotans who lost their lives during an Economic Development Trip.  The spirit of those visionary South Dakotans lives in through the current efforts of individuals across the state.
